Mattia Barbieri (Brescia, b. 1985), lives and works between Milan and New York.
From 2005 till 2010 he attends the Accademia di Belle Arti of Brera, in Milan, where he obtains his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Visual Arts.
His artistic research is a reflection on painting, by placing attention on a semantic level and bringing to the extreme the dispute on the centrality of subject.
Among his solo shows we remember: “Due the Full Frontal” among the Pablo’s Birthday Gallery (2017); “Uno the Full Frontal” presented by the Dimora Artica of Milan and “Tango for the Shadow” always in Milan at the Studio Maraniello (2016); “Vedute, the New Fragrance” in the Gallery Oltredimore of Bologna (2014); “Pitture domestiche” at Federico Luger Gallery in Milan and replicated at the Studio Tommaseo of Trieste (2014); “Dessert on desert” (2010); “Apero’l Barbieri” (2007) “Bicipiti di stracciatella” (2006) at Gallery 42 in the Contemporaneo of Modena; “Retrospettiva” first show set up by Federico Luger Gallery in Milan.
Numerous participations in collective exhibitions, prizes and competitions.
In 2010 he participates to the Second Edition of the Mosca Biennale at the Winzavod Contemporary Art Center.
In 2012 he wins the Lissone Prize and his artwork becomes part of the permanent collection of the Contemporary Art Museum of Lissone.
During the 2015 Expo he collaborates and shows in various exhibitions in the Sala delle Colonne of the Fabbrica del Vapore of Milan.
Mattia Barbieri is also an active member of the drafting of the art magazine E IL TOPO.
